The Adeo School has plenty of instructors that work with children, so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding a fine teacher for your young player. There are some real considerations to take into account before you take this step, however.
In-Studio or at Home?
If your child is studying in the studio, it may help them focus a bit. It may also be more of an adventure for them, as they'll get to get out of the house for a while and head down to the studio with you. If you're taking lessons yourself, this might be a good way to make it interesting for them and to turn it into a family activity. If your child prefers to study at home, Adeo can accommodate this and it doesn't cost much more. Just be sure that the environment your child is going to work in is free of distractions so that they get the most out of their lessons.
The Instrument
You should let your child choose an instrument that they have a real interest in. If you're really trying to groom a child for a career in music, however, piano or voice lessons are the obvious choice. Music theory is generally much easier for people who play the piano and learning voice early on sometimes results in children developing perfect pitch or, at least, the ability to sight read very rapidly.
If your child as an interest in theater, taking voice lessons at the Adeo School is a natural choice. This is simply because so many theatre pieces have musical content and, of course, because the child learns to use their voice correctly and to project it, which will be imperative if they want to act in plays. As is the case with most of the arts, music overlaps to several other disciplines.
The Instructor
Where working with children is concerned, the instructor is a big consideration. Some children will gravitate toward one instructor or another. It may be their mannerisms, the way they play their instrument or because, for some reason, the child wants to impress that instructor. It's usually best to go with this, if your child really takes a liking to one instructor or another. Some instructors specialize in working with younger children and know how to foster a sense of accomplishment in them when they succeed and a sense of determination in them when they're having a tough go of it.
Budget
The Adeo School sells lessons in 4-lesson blocks. This is usually enough to determine whether a child really has an interest in an instrument or not. Be flexible in this regard. There are so many instruments out there that there's no sense in forcing a child to play one they don't like. When it comes down to it, your child may just not like the sound of a piano and love the sound of a viola. Let them follow their interests. The discipline of learning comes when they start feeling a real sense of accomplishment due to their work.
